Mary’s Lakeside Designs is an artisan jewelry business owned and operated by Mary Gugliuzza in Angola, New York. As the name implies, Marys inspiration comes from the Lake Erie Shoreline. Mary walks along the beach hunting for Beach Glass and other natural gems that catch her eye. Enjoy Mary’s artistry by wearing a piece that is created at her home, which is original, personal, and ecological.
Besides Beach Glass jewelry I also create wire wrapped crystal, beads and stone earrings and pendants, along with a line of real Buffalo Nickel pieces that I’m sure you’ll enjoy. Most everything can be custom made.
New to my collection are Pendants and Earrings made from Silver Metal Clay. After a few classes at the Roycroft Artisan Studios, I fell in love with this new medium of jewelry making. The designs, textures and sizes are limitless.
These pieces of clay consist of silver, bronze and copper mixed with organic binder and water. After rolling the clay, it is then textured, dried, sanded, and finally torch fired (or use of a kiln). After firing, the harmless binder and water burns away, the silver particles sinter (fuse) to form a solid 99.9% pure silver piece.
Many of my Silver Clay Pieces are made to have an organic feel. I call it my “Botanical Line”. I hand mold leaves from my garden (or wherever I can safely find beautiful greenery) and use these molds to texture and shape a piece of fine silver jewelry.
